Psych is easily the most all-encompassing fandom I've ever had the delight to be a part of.  Even with the series now at its end as regular series (we still remain hopeful for TV movies!) the passion for these characters has not waned!

I'm not sure I'll ever grow tired of writing for Psych.

Psych-related projects:

Since 2013, I have taken over control of managing the annual Psychfic awards.  I am head of the committee and I create the awards banners and update pineapple awards icons. Visit the Psychfic Awards on LiveJournal!

As of 2014, I have initiated a new Psychfic Virtual Seasons which picks up immediately after the final aired episode.  Please send me an email or private message if you would like to participate as an episode writer.  Writers must be members of Psychfic and have a high degree of writing aptitude in order to qualify.

Older History:

I've been writing, if you want to be technical, since I was six years old.  My first efforts were usually four page, stapled together picture stories about animals.  I could easily drift far and wide into imagination land with my favorite characters- up to creating a whole world where I existed with them as one of their friends.

At the time, I had these stories in my head only- and it wasn't until my teen years that they began to appear on paper.

My first fanfic, if I remember correctly, was Star Trek.  I don't really remember what it was about- and I think I deleted it fairly quickly.  Keep in mind, I didn't have my own computer, so all my efforts were saved to a floppy disk.  (yes, ancient, I know!)

My first posted piece was an X Files story.  Again, I don't remember what I wrote... though this is likely for the best.

I slowly began writing more and more.

The first series that really catapulted me into fanatic was Monk.  I actually joined a group- created a page- and corresponded daily with other fans.  This lasted about a year or two.  As it was, there was no unified gathering spot.  People appeared randomly before being swallowed up once more by other interests.  I eventually quit writing for the series completely.

I grew interested in anime in the meantime- dabbling with a few stories here and there.  I met a like minded woman after posting one of my longer stories.  She liked my work, and invited me to join her writing group called Crackbunny Syndrome.  Along with two other people, they'd begun writing a story that was slowly growing from a minor bit of fun into something far, far more than ever could have been anticipated.  The story can be found here: (on going) Balance of Power

It was during the second season of Psych that I first discovered Psychfic.  Having only had an on and off interest in the series prior to this, my interest suddenly skyrocketed when I began reading the fanfic that was being posted here.  Previously, the only fic I knew of was the material on  Discovering this community was simply the most fabulous online experience I've had to date.

Suddenly I was in love with the show!!  Going back to watch episodes I'd missed, I wondered how I could ever have let myself miss a single one!

It wasn't long before I began writing fanfic.

I haven't stopped since.

As of this year, I am no longer taking on additional BETA work. I am currently trying to build a freelance business and simply do not have time for any additional responsibilities.  If you need help or want ideas, I urge you to check out this thread on the forum.  It has tons of links to extremely helpful forum posts: Writing Help Master Thread

Challenges by dragonnan

I want to see a crossover with the Dead Zone.  I've really wanted to see a nifty story where Shawn meets Johnny Smith.  It seems sorta simple, but there are a few guidelines:  1) No other series can be crossed into this- this is strictly Dead Zone/Psych.  2) no character deaths from either series. 3) keep it canon- no sudden psych abilities for Shawn, and no super-powered sensing for John... try to stick with the style for both series.

As to plot- whatever floats your fancy!  You could have Shawn and Gus (or just Shawn) head on a roadtrip to Maine, or John Smith could be on holiday in California.  Maybe they meet at at Psychic's convention, or maybe one actively seeks out the other after hearing about their 'abilities'.  I'm curious to see what you come up with in any event!

Summary: The Kübler-Ross model describes, in five discrete stages, the process by which people deal with grief and tragedy.  They are: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance.  You can put one character through all these stages, or mix and match!  Either way, have fun!

Valentine's day.  Lassiter in a foul mood- the reason is romance related, but it doesn't HAVE to be because of his wife.  And there's a dead guy.

in addition, must include these elements:

Gus is gifted with red heart boxers

Shawn's date cancels at the last minute and he ends up going alone to dinner- he had a gift coupon for that night and didn't want to waste it.

Juliet punches someone.

Beyond that- go wild!

Oh I just couldn't resist!!

So, I've VERY recently started watching Burn Notice on USA, and have completely been caught up in the series.  I love it- I can't help but love it!

And, more importantly, I've been plot bunnied very badly by it!  Why?  Because the series is set in Miami- hometown and former workplace of Juliet O'Hara.

Now, in some interview sometime- Steve Franks suggested her leaving Miami had to do with an ex-fiance.  What  I want to see- is a way to tie in Michael with Juliet.

The rules:

As canon as a crossover between the two series can be.  In other words, Michael cannot (as much as I'd love it) show up in Santa Barbara.  He's trapped in Miami because of the Burn notice.  The story CAN however, be a Psych pre-series story set before Juliet leaves town.

Beyond that- I have no other rules.

EDIT 7/3/2012 - Given the changes to Michael's circumstances in Burn Notice,  he is now free-ish to roam the countryside.  So having him show up in California, now, is possible.

Shawn had a one night... okay, a five night stand with a stunning woman from a chorus line.  When the vacation ends- so does the fling.  Well, for Shawn at least.  Five years later- enjoying the easy life as a Psychic faker- he hasn't thought of this interlude in a long time.

The same can't be said for the woman.

Jealous, scorned, and unable to let it go- she's been determined to find her old lover and settle scores once and for all.  Too bad Shawn didn't pick up on her homicidal tendencies when he picked her up.

Story stipulations: NO 'Shawn has a baby with this woman.'  If there's Shules, keep it canon- no marriage proposals, big-time dating, whatnot.  However, tentitive light romance is always fun.

Other than that- no other rules!  Rating can be anything from E to M

Shark attack!  One of the characters suffers from a shark attack, and is injured severely.  In fact, they lose a limb.  Now, so far I've only ready one story- a short- that has amputation.  So that sort of whump is still fairly unique.

No cheating on the medical- It doesn't have to be detailed or even graphic- but no quick fixes.  And if it happens to a cop- they WILL be out of a job.

That's about my only stipulations.  So get chomping!

7. Gold  8. Hollow  9. Irritated  10. Jerk  11. Kaleidoscope

A woman Shawn met on the road tracks him down.  Her daughter was murdered, and she's desperate to find the person responsible.  Finding no help from the cops, she is forced to go to the one person she didn't want to see... The one person she knows will do everything in his power to find the killer.  The child's father.

No Shules beyond what is seen in the series.  Aside from having a child he didn't know about, try to stay as canon as possible.  Season.  Age of the child should be between five and eight.

Shawn is stung by a little known jellyfish called an Irukandji.

Effects:   Irukandji syndrome is produced by a very small amount of venom and includes severe pains at various parts of the body (typically excruciating muscle cramps in the arms and legs, severe pain in the back and kidneys, and a burning sensation of the skin and face), headaches, nausea, restlessness, sweating, vomiting, high heart rate and blood pressure.

This jelly has so far only been found in Australia.  The trick is to logically bring the beastie to California.

No crack, we want the real deal with this.  Keep it in-season, and no Shules, though there can be concern.  Basically what you'd see between them in an episode.
